North American Customers Sorry, at this time we are only able to ship pupae to USA and CANADIAN customers from the Los Angeles, USA office. Other international customers will be shipped from the Oxford, England office [click here to link to the LPS Oxford website]. For the safety of the pupae, transport needs to be as swift as possible, which means that they are shipped by FedEx priority overnight, unless other arrangements are made in advance.To receive pupae in the USA, you must have a license or permit from the USDA
- and we must have a faxed version or photocopy of the permit
on file to send pupae out to you.
Prices estimated are for one large FedEx shipping box of pupae, which will hold about 300 pupae, unless the larger species - like Attacus atlas or Caligo eurilochus, for instance - are included. Boxes are made of polystyrene and wrapped in cardboard; the pupae are further protected from transit impact damage and mild temperature fluctuation by being wrapped in cotton wool). Estimated shipping cost will be $50.00 minimum per package.
Tax and Payment Methods Note:
new customers must pre-pay for shipments;
this is most easily done by faxing us credit card details. CREDIT CARD: Payments can be accepted by VISA or MasterCard (note that credit card payments will be made in US dollars). CHECKS: All checks must be drawn on a US bank. e-mail for further details or enquiries. Currently taxes of 10% will be added to California customers only. (OVERDUE ACCOUNTS are charged interest at 2.5% per month.)
How To Order No Red/White labels needed. We need a copy of your USDA/CFIA permit on file before any pupae can be sent. Place large orders well in advance. Farms need 60 days notice for very large requests. London Pupae Supplies of Los Angeles wants to be sure you receive only the best quality and variety of pupae available. In order to assist us in filling your orders, it would help us to know any preferences and limitations. Number / Frequency Please specify how many pupae you would like and how often you will need the shipments. A request such as “500 pupae every 2 weeks” will allow us to schedule larger shipments and more variety those weeks. Letting us know well in advance benefits both the farmers and your exhibit. Budget constraints If you are constrained by a budget, please let us know. Requesting “$500 worth of pupae every week” or “up to 300 pupae every week but not exceeding $1000 per order” will allow us to best fill the orders without getting complaints from your accounting department. Regional orders We currently have several suppliers from different regions of the world. If your exhibit is focusing on a particular area or you favor a region, please let us know. We can focus the orders to reflect your exhibit’s needs accordingly. Favorites/Priorities list We work from species listed on your current USDA permits or CFIA LIST A approved species. Giving us a favorite species list (i.e. “Morpho peleides minimum 50/order”) will allow us to prioritize stock to your orders. Unwanted species Your USDA/CFIA permit list may contain species that you don’t really want or need to display. We will avoid sending any species from your “unwanted list.” Special Orders / Requests Many species listed in this catalog are very seasonal and therefore not always available. To request specific species, especially those that are only available seasonally, may require additional communication with the farmers. If you have a special request for some favorite species, first please make sure they are listed onyour USDA/CFIA permit. Since the variety from the farms are affected by seasons and weather conditions we cannot guarantee when or how many will be available. Priority is given to special orders whenever those species are received into our office. PLEASE NOTE: If you have eliminated some species from your “favorite species list” in the past due to poor emergence or problems with emerging in transit, please let us know. It may be that you won’t experience these problems when purchasing from Los Angeles office due to the overnight delivery time. If you would like, we can send a few pupae as a test from the LA office.
